The Business Operations Analyst will support the Office of Data and Analytics (ODA) in developing and executing business operations best practices that improve team efficiency, productivity, data quality, and cross-functional collaboration.
The role will contribute to organizational strategy, data governance, quality assurance, KPI tracking, financial analysis, process improvement, and relationship management across agency divisions. The analyst will work closely with data owners, data stewards, business stakeholders, and the Office of Performance Excellence to ensure that ODA's data products and operational processes are accurate, efficient, well-documented, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end data mapping across assigned data sources, systems, and reporting layers.
Document business definitions, transformation logic, data lineage, and data relationships.
Collaborate with data owners and stewards to identify and resolve conflicting business definitions and data requirements.
Analyze existing workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and process issues.
Recommend practical solutions and process improvements to increase operational efficiency and productivity.
Develop and implement data quality rules to support the accuracy and reliability of ODA data products.
Track data quality exceptions, monitor remediation activities, and report on outstanding issues.
Maintain metadata, business glossary entries, and other documentation within the organization's data catalog.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for change control, data mapping, and related business processes.
Prepare status reports, governance scorecards, and operational metrics for management review.
Support ODA's strategic planning activities and KPI tracking in collaboration with the Office of Performance Excellence.
Assist with the development of training materials and deliver training to employees and stakeholders as required.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and other agency divisions.
Track and audit purchase order expenditures, identify variances, and provide information to support operational planning.
Review and audit financial data to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Incorporate budgetary constraints, cost drivers, and financial considerations into workflow and operational recommendations.
Support financial tracking, reporting, and reconciliation activities as needed.
Provide analytical and operational support to other ODA projects and initiatives.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business , Management, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
3–5+ years of relevant experience in business operations, data analytics, business analysis, or a related field.
Strong analytical, conceptual, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with data mapping, data quality, data governance, or data lineage.
Strong understanding of business operations, process improvement, and operational best practices.
Experience with data visualization tools and the ability to develop meaningful and compelling visualizations.
Working knowledge of budgets, cost drivers, purchase orders, financial data, and basic financial reporting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
