Mainframe Database Administrator – DB2 z/OS

Location: St. Louis, MO – Onsite

Employment Type: Contract / 1099

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a DB2 z/OS Database Administrator who also has solid Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SQL tuning, and database performance optimization experience.
Candidates with a combination of Mainframe DB2 + SQL Server experience are strongly preferred. The candidate should be comfortable working onsite in St. Louis, MO, interacting with developers and business stakeholders, troubleshooting complex database issues, and supporting multiple projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.

• 2+ years of professional experience with DB2 z/OS and/or Microsoft SQL Server.

• Strong hands-on experience with DB2 z/OS / Mainframe database environments.

• Strong knowledge of relational database design and data warehousing principles.

• Strong SQL development, code review, and optimization skills.

• Proven experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.

• Strong understanding of indexing strategies and database scalability.

• Experience analyzing SQL EXPLAIN plans/costs and identifying performance improvements.

• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

• Strong knowledge of database administration and troubleshooting.

• Understanding of SDLC and systems analysis procedures.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.

• Strong documentation and technical architecture skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

• Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
