Job Overview:
The primary role of a Software Engineer III is to apply principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of software and systems that enable computers to function effectively. This position involves researching, designing, developing, and testing operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for various applications, including medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing.

Responsibilities:

• Modify existing databases and database management systems.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of databases to management systems or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Collaborate with project teams to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish the project.

Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, customer service orientation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Basic mentoring skills to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, including business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, functional specification authoring, development, testing, and delivery.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting issues and implementing system changes to resolve problems.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems.
• Familiarity with computer development software, such as SQL, VisualBasic, and related tools.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field is required.
