Summary
Pay Range: $40.00-44.00 per hour, W2
As part of the Communications Engineering team, core responsibilities include the architecture, engineering, design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of RF communication systems, leased line services, and field communications supporting infrastructure. This role provides technical support to various deployment projects of Field Area Network devices and assists in the ongoing maintenance and operations of in-service assets.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-performance, high-availability, and cost-effective solutions to manage ongoing costs while meeting technical and business requirements
- Participate in installations and upgrades of communications technologies to ensure computing and network architecture solutions are properly implemented
- Support the operational performance and maintenance of existing network circuits as well as design and delivery of new products/product enhancements
- Ensure technical standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements are properly implemented on assigned projects
- Maintain scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects
- Take ownership of assigned work and coordinate with internal and external groups on project delivery
- Maintain functional knowledge of technology, technology changes, and the relationships of technology to emerging business requirements
- Participate on the Communications Engineering team supporting the many technology platforms delivering voice, video, and computing services
- Ensure high level of reliability and availability of these systems
- Ensure that change management procedures are followed properly
Requirements:
- Bachelor or associate's degree in Networking, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Telecommunications or related field, or related work experience
- Minimum of 3-6 years professional-level experience
- Administrative and technical writing skills through proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and other document production techniques
- Proficiency in Document Management principles and tools including department policy adherence, version controls, approvals, regulatory/compliance, and document management software methods
Desired skills:
- Basic knowledge of common test equipment (e.g., DMMs, antenna analyzers, spectrum analyzers and RF wattmeters)
- Experience providing network circuit design, platform administration, and support
- Circuit engineering design and infrastructure support for data transport of devices (e.g., RTUs, routers, switches, reclosers) over wireless or fiber
- Knowledge of in-building cellular phone signal booster and network extender technology
- Familiarity with environmental support systems for technology platforms (e.g., HVAC, AC/DC power systems, batteries, generators, etc.)
- Experience with circuit inventory management and telecommunications expense management systems
- Core competencies include interpersonal, communications (written & verbal), presentation, and drafting/drawing (Visio/CAD/GIS) skills
- Experience with circuit design and drawing management tools
- Knowledge of tools used to monitor, control & track the performance of circuits
- Understanding of project management concepts and tools
- Familiarity with telephony systems (e.g., PBX, key systems, console systems, ACD, etc.)
- Knowledge of Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA); Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
