Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator to support day-to-day database administration, maintenance, monitoring, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security, and production support activities.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day administration and support of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain SQL Server environments.
- Monitor database health, availability, storage, capacity, and performance.
- Perform backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, long-running queries, and resource utilization.
- Perform SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and index maintenance.
- Manage database security, users, roles, permissions, and access controls.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, refreshes, and environment cloning.
- Maintain SQL Server Agent jobs, maintenance plans, alerts, and scheduled tasks.
- Support high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and log shipping.
- Monitor and manage database storage, file growth, transaction logs, and capacity planning.
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams to resolve production issues.
- Support database deployments and release activities across development, QA, UAT, and production environments.
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts for administration, troubleshooting, reporting, and automation.
- Perform root-cause analysis for database incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and standards.
- Participate in production support and on-call activities as required.
- Provide basic administration and support for PostgreSQL databases.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.

- Strong T-SQL and SQL scripting skills.
- Experience with database migrations, upgrades, patching, and refreshes.
- Experience troubleshooting production database issues.
- Good understanding of Windows Server environments.
- Experience working with enterprise monitoring and ticketing tools.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
PostgreSQL
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL administration.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL backup/recovery, user management, monitoring, configuration, and performance troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting PostgreSQL in production is preferred but does not need to be the primary skill.
