Job Description:We are seeking a mainframe developer to support our securitization organization. Employees in this role are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and products that meet customer needs. This includes participating in the full software development lifecycle-defining architecture, writing code, testing for quality, and deploying solutions. Full-stack engineering responsibilities, including both user interface and server-side development, may also be part of this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with customers and stakeholders to understand use cases, pain points, and requirements; advocate for user-centric solutions.Design, develop, and deliver software using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, methodologies (e.g., Agile), and technologies.Analyze business and technical requirements to determine optimal technology stacks, integration methods, and deployment strategies.Create high-level architecture designs outlining overall structure, key components, and system interfaces.Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as product owners, designers, and architects.Define and implement testing strategies, standards, and processes aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.Continuously optimize application performance and incorporate new technologies to increase development efficiency.Apply modern programming practices such as test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration (CI), and continuous delivery (CD).Implement and support security best practices, including data encryption and anonymization.Develop intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.Build and maintain back-end systems, including APIs and microservices using server-side languages.Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, collaborating with industry partners where applicable.Required Skills- Job Control Language (JCL) - Ability to write structured jobs, debug JCL errors, and understand schedule IDs.
- Mainframe Databases (DB2 or equivalent) - Understanding of relational databases; ability to write and debug SQL; knowledge of keys and indexes.
- COBOL - Ability to code and debug COBOL programs of moderate complexity.
- Mainframe Systems - Experience with ISPF, FileManager, CA7, Syncsort, and sFTP.
Preferred Skills- PostgreSQL - 5+ years working with PostgreSQL, including writing SQL and procedural code.
- Relational Database Design - Experience with table design, normalization, and key-field identification.
- Agile Software Development - 3+ years working with Scrum and/or Waterfall methodologies.
- Jira - Strong understanding of Jira boards, user stories, backlog refinement, task breakdown, prioritization, and estimation.
Required Experience- 6+ years of IT experience
- 4+ years of software development experience
- Practical experience in two programming languages or advanced proficiency in one
Education- Required: Bachelor's Degree
