Position: Network Architect
Location: Tallahassee, FL (Need Locals) - Remote (25% Travel if client needs)
Duration: Long Term

Job Responsibilities: 
 
Network Architecture & Design
  • Lead high-level network planning, architecture, and optimization
  • Translate business requirements into technical network solutions
  • Define enterprise-wide network architecture standards
  • Recommend hardware, software, and infrastructure improvements
Network Engineering & Operations
  • Configure and maintain:
    • Routers, switches, and hubs
    • Firewalls (including enterprise-grade systems)
  • Manage and optimize routing protocols:
    • OSPF
    • BGP
  • Monitor network performance and conduct capacity planning
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and develop resolution strategies
Security & Compliance
  • Maintain system security, confidentiality, and availability
  • Participate in:
    • Incident response (CSIRT)
    • Continuity of Operations (COOP)
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and regulations
Project Leadership & Support
  • Lead enterprise-level network projects
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on complex initiatives
  • Mentor junior technical staff
  • Provide second-level technical support
Operational & Administrative Duties
  • Develop documentation (processes, systems, procedures)
  • Participate in change management processes
  • Track billable hours and activities
  • Respond to service desk tickets within required timelines
  • Provide weekly status reports
Work Conditions
  • On-call and after-hours support required
  • Emergency response participation required
  • Work is primarily remote with occasional onsite requirements
 
Required Qualifications (MANDATORY)
Candidates must meet ALL of the following:
Technical Skills
  • Experience configuring and managing:
    • Routers, switches, firewalls
  • Strong experience with:
    • OSPF and BGP routing protocols in large enterprise environments
  • Proven experience with:
    • SonicWall NSA → Palo Alto firewall migration

  • Strong documentation and writing skills

Communication
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (HIGHLY DESIRABLE)
  • Experience with:
    • Palo Alto Firewalls
    • Cisco, Nexus, ACI
    • F5 Big-IP LTM
  • Experience in:
    • Multi-customer data center environments
  • Relevant industry certifications:
    • Cisco (CCNP/CCIE)
    • Palo Alto (PCNSE)
Education Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED + 10 years of experience, OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 10 years
Experience Requirements
Minimum Experience
  • 5–10+ years of experience in:
    • Network architecture
    • Enterprise networking environments
Required Experience Areas
  • Large-scale enterprise network environments
  • Data center networking
  • Firewall management and migration
  • Routing (OSPF/BGP)
Preferred Experience
  • Government or multi-agency environments
  • High-availability / Tier III data centers
  • Disaster recovery and continuity planning
Additional Requirements
Compliance & Eligibility
  • Must meet U.S. employment eligibility (I-9)
  • Must pass:
    • CJIS background check
    • Level 2 background screening.
