Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Epic Interface Engineer to support the development, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of healthcare interfaces within an Epic environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Epic Bridges, HL7 interfaces, interface engines, and healthcare integration.

This is a Contract-to-Direct Hire opportunity. Candidates must be local to the Houston, Texas area and able to work onsite as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, configure, test, implement, and maintain Epic interfaces.

  • Build and support HL7 interfaces using Epic Bridges and interface engine technologies.

  • Analyze interface requirements and translate business/clinical requirements into technical solutions.

  • Develop, modify, monitor, and troubleshoot inbound and outbound interfaces.

  • Troubleshoot HL7 message errors, interface failures, data mapping issues, and integration problems.

  • Work with Epic application teams, clinical/operational stakeholders, vendors, and external healthcare organizations.

  • Perform interface testing, validation, and production implementation.

  • Monitor interface performance and resolve production issues.

  • Support upgrades, enhancements, new implementations, and system integrations.

  • Develop technical documentation, interface specifications, testing documentation, and support procedures.

  • Participate in incident resolution and root-cause analysis.

  • Follow healthcare data, security, privacy, and organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Epic Interfaces / Epic Bridges.

  • Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging.

  • Experience with healthcare application integration and interoperability.

  • Experience troubleshooting complex interfaces in production.

  • Experience with an interface engine such as Mirth/NextGen Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or similar.

  • Understanding of HL7 message structures including ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, DFT, etc.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic certification in Bridges or related Epic integration technology.

  • Experience with Epic upgrades and implementations.

  • Experience with APIs, REST, SOAP, FHIR, and other modern integration technologies.

  • Healthcare provider/hospital experience.

  • Experience supporting high-volume healthcare interfaces.
