Position: Field Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Field Engineer to support the deployment, integration, operation, and sustainment of advanced ground-based communications and mission systems at domestic and international locations. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment supporting highly technical airborne and terrestrial systems that provide critical voice and data communications capabilities.

The successful candidate will participate in installation, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and operational support activities while collaborating closely with engineering, operations, manufacturing, logistics, and customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

System Deployment & Integration

Participate in domestic and international deployment activities for ground system installations and upgrades.

Perform hands-on installation, integration, configuration, and testing of hardware, software, networking, and communication systems.

Support system acceptance testing, validation, and customer readiness activities.

Assist with network configuration, software deployments, and infrastructure setup.

Troubleshoot and resolve system, network, and software issues during deployment and operational phases.

Technical Operations & Support

Provide on-site technical support during installation, maintenance, and operational activities.

Diagnose and repair commercial IT equipment, network devices, and computer systems.

Support ongoing operation and sustainment of complex tactical communication systems delivering voice and data services.

Utilize engineering drawings, technical documentation, procedures, and maintenance instructions to perform troubleshooting and support activities.

Maintain accurate technical reports, procedures, system documentation, and deployment records.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with engineering, manufacturing, logistics, cybersecurity, and operations teams to ensure successful system deployment and sustainment.

Support customer audits, technical reviews, and acceptance events.

Contribute to process improvement and configuration management activities.

Develop deep technical knowledge of system architecture, operational workflows, and deployment processes.

Continuous Learning

Maintain current technical certifications and training related to system technologies, infrastructure upgrades, and emerging tools.

Support technology refresh initiatives, hardware modernization efforts, and software upgrades.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.

Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Technical Skills

Experience configuring, repairing, troubleshooting, and operating:

Network devices

Windows-based systems

Linux-based systems

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Experience with:

Software installation and deployment processes

Enterprise IT hardware troubleshooting

System-level testing and validation
    • Commercial electronics hardware

Certifications

CompTIA Security+ certification preferred or ability to obtain within three months of hire.

CompTIA A+ certification preferred (relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of certification).

Additional Requirements

Willingness to work extended hours and non-standard schedules as required.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work around technical equipment in laboratory and deployment environments.

Willingness to complete required training at designated U.S. locations.

Ability to support long-term international assignments, including locations in the Asia-Pacific or Middle East regions.

Ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

Infrastructure & Systems

Experience working in complex hardware and software integration, deployment, or operational support environments.

Experience with: Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, LDAP, VMware virtualization platforms, SAN storage solutions and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
