Role summary
Client is moving its finance platform from NetSuite to Oracle. You will lead the design, mapping and validation of the new Chart of Accounts (CoA) and sub-accounts, write the accounting policies that govern it, and take the new structure through audit. You will also guide the Data Validation Analyst day to day.
Key responsibilities
Chart of Accounts design and mapping
- Analyze the existing NetSuite CoA, subsidiaries, departments, classes, locations and custom segments.
- Design the Oracle CoA and sub-chart of accounts (segments, value sets, hierarchies, account rollups) with Finance and the implementation partner.
- Build and own the NetSuite-to-Oracle account mapping (one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one), with rationale for each change.
- Define naming conventions, numbering logic and governance for adding or retiring accounts.
Policy and documentation
- Draft the CoA policy and accounting manual explaining each segment, its purpose and usage rules.
- Document legacy linkages: how each NetSuite account, segment and report line maps to the new Oracle structure.
- Prepare crosswalks for financial statements, management reports and tax reporting.
Data validation and reconciliation
- Plan and lead validation for each migration cycle (mock loads, SIT, UAT, cutover).
- Reconcile trial balances, GL balances, open AR/AP and subledgers between NetSuite and Oracle; investigate and resolve variances.
- Define validation rules, control totals and sign-off checklists; maintain the issue and defect log.
Audit and controls
- Prepare the audit pack for the new CoA and migrated balances; act as main contact for internal and external auditors.
- Make sure the new structure supports SOX controls, segregation of duties and US GAAP reporting.
- Respond to audit queries and close findings within agreed timelines.
Stakeholder management
- Work with Controllership, FP&A, Tax, IT and the system integrator; present progress and risks to the program lead.
- Review the Data Validation Analyst's work and train finance users on the new CoA.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA, CA, CMA or ACCA preferred.
- 4 to 6 years in accounting, finance systems, ERP implementation or audit, including at least one ERP migration or CoA redesign.
- Hands-on NetSuite experience; Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP (or Oracle EBS) General Ledger experience strongly preferred.
- Strong grasp of US GAAP, GL structure, consolidation and intercompany accounting.
- Advanced Excel (lookups, pivots, Power Query); SQL or a BI tool is a plus.
- Experience supporting audits; Big 4 audit or advisory background is a plus.
- Clear written communication for policy documents and audit responses.
Nice to have
- Multi-entity, multi-currency environments; manufacturing or energy/solar industry exposure.
- Familiarity with data migration tools (FBDI, ADFdi) and SOX documentation.
