Role Overview
The Senior Platform Engineer supports the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise cloud platforms, with a focus on AWS Golden AMI development and lifecycle management. This role will build and maintain standardized Amazon Machine Images (AMIs), automate image creation and maintenance, and help ensure secure, scalable, and resilient AWS infrastructure.
The engineer will partner with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to translate requirements into effective platform solutions while improving automation, standardization, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications
•  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
•  7+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
•  Strong experience with AWS cloud technologies, DevOps processes, and infrastructure automation.
•  Hands-on experience designing, building, maintaining, and supporting AWS Golden AMIs in enterprise environments.
•  Experience automating the AMI lifecycle, including image creation, testing, patching, versioning, distribution, and maintenance.
•  Experience with CI/CD tools and practices such as Harness, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, or similar.
•  Strong scripting and automation experience using Python, Bash, Shell, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
•  Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, hosting, and application infrastructure.
•  Experience with cloud security, infrastructure hardening, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
•  Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
•  Experience with AWS EC2 Image Builder, HashiCorp Packer, or similar image-building technologies.
•  Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
•  Experience with AWS Systems Manager, automated patching, and infrastructure management.
•  Experience integrating security hardening, vulnerability scanning, and compliance requirements into Golden AMIs.
•  Experience managing and distributing AMIs across multiple AWS accounts or environments.
•  Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
•  Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.
•  AWS or other relevant cloud certifications.
•  Previous experience mentoring or leading engineers.

Key Responsibilities
•  Design, build, maintain, and support standardized AWS Golden AMIs for enterprise environments.
•  Develop and maintain automated processes for AMI creation, testing, patching, versioning, distribution, and lifecycle management.
•  Establish and maintain Golden AMI standards to support security, consistency, compliance, and reliability.
•  Design, implement, and support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure and platform solutions.
•  Maintain and improve CI/CD processes and pipelines supporting infrastructure and AMI automation.
•  Support operating system patching, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and technology refresh initiatives.
•  Manage cloud infrastructure, monitoring, alerting, and system health.
•  Troubleshoot complex cloud, operating system, and platform issues.
•  Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, build solution designs, and ensure scalability, resiliency, and efficiency of platform architectures.
•  Create system guidelines, process documentation, and training materials.
•  Support cloud migrations, acquisitions, divestitures, and platform integration initiatives.
•  Mentor engineers and promote continuous improvement and automation best practices.
