Role Overview

The MongoDB SME will be responsible for designing, governing, and optimizing enterprise MongoDB data platforms that support mission-critical applications and high-volume workloads. This role requires expertise in MongoDB architecture, distributed database design, and operational resiliency. As a key technical leader, the MongoDB SME will partner with application engineering, platform/DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to translate requirements into scalable and secure database solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and provide operational support for MongoDB in enterprise production environments.
  • Design and operate MongoDB replication and high-availability patterns.
  • Implement and manage MongoDB sharding for large datasets and high-throughput applications.
  • Conduct performance tuning, including index design, query plan analysis, and workload profiling.
  • Apply distributed systems principles, including consistency models and multi-region architecture.
  • Manage backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery exercises aligned to RPO/RTO targets.
  • Automate database operations, health checks, and diagnostics using Linux administration and scripting (bash/Python).
  • Integrate MongoDB with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation practices.

Required Qualifications

Experience:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with MongoDB in enterprise production environments, including design, deployment, and operational support.
  • 8+ years of experience with MongoDB replication, high-availability patterns, and sharding.
  • 8+ years of experience in performance tuning, distributed systems, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • 8+ years of experience with Linux administration and scripting (bash and/or Python).
  • 8+ years of experience integrating MongoDB with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong familiarity with project planning and tracking tools such as Jira or Microsoft Project.

Work Environment

This position has a hybrid schedule requirement with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.

Compensation & Benefits

A pay range of $63.00 to $65.06 per hour is available for this position.
