Job Title: Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA)

About the Role:
Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to support critical enterprise database environments. This role will focus on Oracle database administration, infrastructure management, database upgrades, high availability solutions, security compliance, performance tuning, and operational support.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing Oracle 19c or higher environments, Oracle Grid Infrastructure, ASM, Clusterware, GoldenGate, Active Data Guard, and Linux scripting. This position will play a key role in Oracle 19c to Oracle 23ai upgrade initiatives and maintaining highly available database environments supporting enterprise ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute Oracle database upgrades from Oracle 19c to Oracle 23ai.
- Administer and support Oracle 19c and higher database environments.
- Manage Oracle Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and Clusterware.
- Configure and support Oracle GoldenGate and Active Data Guard environments.
- Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization.
- Implement security patches and ensure vulnerability compliance.
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
- Develop and maintain Linux shell and SQL scripts for automation.
- Support ETL-related database environments and activities.
- Monitor database health, availability, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide operational support.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure database stability and scalability.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Oracle DBA experience supporting Oracle 19c or higher.
- 8+ years of experience with Oracle Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and Clusterware.
- 8+ years of experience with Oracle GoldenGate and Active Data Guard.
- Strong Linux administration and advanced scripting experience.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience with database security, patching, and compliance.
- Strong understanding of high-availability and disaster recovery architectures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Federal, State, or Local Government organizations.
- Experience working with hosting vendors or managed service providers.
- Experience supporting Oracle PeopleSoft environments.
Additional Information:
- Remote position.
- Occasional after-hours work may be required based on project schedules.
- If the position transitions to hybrid, office attendance requirements will be negotiated.
