Role Overview
The Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications. This role requires a technical background and the ability to work collaboratively in a SAFe Agile environment. The Software Engineer will play a role in maintaining the quality and efficiency of software solutions to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in detecting and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse within government-sponsored health programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.
- Participate in all phases of the Agile development lifecycle, including planning, estimation, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices, conduct code reviews, and write unit tests.
- Work with product owners, Scrum Masters, DevSecOps engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver software solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, provide root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for software applications and processes.
- Continuously enhance software development processes and tools to improve efficiency and quality.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required.
Experience: This position requires 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Java and Spring Boot. Candidates must have lived in the United States for 3 out of the past 5 years and must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Technical Skills: Proficiency is required in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API development, microservices architecture, ActiveMQ, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience is necessary with front-end technologies (Angular, React), version control systems (GitHub), CI/CD tools (Jenkins), and test automation frameworks (Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber). Additional required skills include SQL, Python, Bash scripting, Linux, AWS services (Amazon MQ, SQS, S3, EC2, EKS, RDS, CloudWatch), infrastructure as code tools (Terraform), databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle), and system monitoring tools (Apache JMeter, Grafana, Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch). Knowledge of data analytics tools (AWS QuickSight, Elasticsearch) and agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum) and tools (Jira, Confluence) is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAFe Agile Certification
- Experience in healthcare IT and understanding of regulatory requirements such as HIPAA.
- Experience and/or knowledge of CMS processes and standards.
Compensation & Benefits
A pay rate range of $50.00 to $60.00 per hour is offered for this position.
