Data Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Lansing, MI that is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of data engineering experience, along with strong analytical reasoning and critical thinking skills. This role will support general extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) work, traditional Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW), and the development of data pipelines that use change data capture (CDC) mechanisms to move data from on-premises environments to cloud-based platforms.

Responsibilities:
* Participate in the analysis and development of technical specifications, programming, and testing of Data Engineering components
* Create and maintain data pipelines and ETL workflows while following established programming standards and guidelines
* Contribute to team standards and process improvements when gaps are identified
* Follow technology, architecture, and design best practices and escalate issues as appropriate
* Develop and maintain ETL workflows to populate on-premises Enterprise Data Warehouses and create flat-file extracts
* Develop ETL workflows using PL/SQL-based solutions to populate data marts for enterprise reporting
* Configure and develop scripts to implement automated data pipelines, including stored procedures, functions, and other scripting components
* Develop ETL workflows that move data from on-premises sources to cloud-based data platforms and application platforms
* Follow established standards for change control and configuration management
* Participate in an on-call rotation supporting the data platform

REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of data engineering experience
* Experience with database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Snowflake
* Experience with Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
* Proficiency with PL/SQL and T-SQL
* Experience with enterprise ETL/data integration tools
* Understanding and hands-on experience loading and maintaining an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
* Strong interest in automating repeatable processes
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to collaborate effectively with teams across an organization

Desired Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience creating and maintaining data solutions within Snowflake
* Experience with change data capture (CDC) and cloud data pipelines
* Experience working with on-premises-to-cloud data integrations

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
