Required Skills
• Java + Spring Boot — building and maintaining backend services/APIs (BFFs, microservices)
• React — building modern web UIs to replace legacy desktop clients
• Kubernetes — deploying and operating containerized services in a cloud environment
• Experience with event-driven / messaging architectures (Kafka experience a strong plus, given the platform's
move away from ActiveMQ)
• Comfort working in a microservices environment with multiple interdependent backend services
• REST API design and integration experience

Nice to haves:
- Claude or GitHub/Co-Pilot development experience
- DevOps experience - how to deploy
- Exposure to stacks

• Experience modernizing/migrating legacy systems (rip-and-replace or strangler-pattern experience)
• Real-time systems experience (WebSockets, live bidding, trading platforms, or similar low-latency domains)
• Exposure to cloud infra (AWS, especially S3/CloudFront)
• Auction, marketplace, or e-commerce domain experience
• Observability/tracing experience in distributed systems
Soft Skills
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity — this is an active modernization effort with evolving requirements
• Able to work across legacy and modern systems simultaneously during transition phases
