Location: DC Metro Area, Rockville, MD or McLean, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite with 2 days remote)

Duration: 6 Months with possible extension

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on in the design, development, and delivery of modern cloud-native applications. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, guiding engineering teams, establishing best practices, and delivering scalable, resilient solutions in AWS. You''''ll partner closely with architects, product managers, and fellow engineers to drive technical direction, mentor team members, and ensure high-quality software delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of enterprise-scale full stack applications using modern JavaScript and cloud technologies.

Provide technical leadership for Agile teams, driving design discussions, sprint planning, estimation, and successful delivery of complex features.

Design and build scalable backend services with Node.js, TypeScript, and event-driven microservices architectures.

Develop modern, responsive front-end applications using Angular 18 , RxJS, Ngx Formly, and monorepo architectures.

Establish engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, reusable component libraries, and development best practices.

Mentor and coach engineers, fostering technical growth while promoting collaboration, code quality, and continuous improvement.

Design and implement secure, scalable AWS-native solutions leveraging serverless and container-based architectures.

Champion automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices to improve software quality, deployment velocity, and operational reliability.

 

Required Qualifications

8 years of professional software engineering experience developing enterprise web applications.

2 years of technical leadership experience leading engineering teams or serving as a technical lead.

Expert-level experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript development.

Strong experience building applications with Angular 18 , including RxJS, Ngx Formly, component architecture, and monorepo development.

Deep understanding of object-oriented design, software architecture, and distributed systems.

Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and event-driven services.

Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL database technologies.

Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.

Cloud & DevOps

Strong experience designing cloud-native solutions on AWS.

 

Hands-on experience with:

Amazon SQS/SNS

ECS

S3

RDS

DynamoDB

DocumentDB

Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.

Familiarity with infrastructure automation and deployment best practices.

Testing & Engineering Excellence

Experience developing automated testing strategies using Playwright with TypeScript.

Strong understanding of unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing methodologies.

Passion for code quality, maintainability, security, and observability.

Experience driving engineering standards, documentation, and development best practices across teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing highly available, event-driven microservices architectures.

Knowledge of cloud security, scalability, resiliency, and performance optimization.

Experience working within highly regulated or enterprise-scale environments.

Familiarity with modern observability, monitoring, and logging tools.

Passion for mentoring engineers and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
