Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to lead the engineering, administration, optimization, and modernization of a large-scale Microsoft data platform ecosystem. This role will play a critical part in ensuring enterprise data environments are reliable, secure, high-performing, and positioned to support ongoing cloud transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server administration, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, and enterprise data platform architecture. While day-to-day administration is important, this position is heavily focused on engineering, implementation, automation, and long-term platform strategy. You will partner closely with infrastructure, application, analytics, finance, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions that drive operational and business success.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer, monitor, and optimize SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments to ensure performance, availability, and security
• Design, implement, and support Microsoft Fabric solutions including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows, Semantic Models, and Fabric Workspaces
• Develop and maintain scalable ETL and ELT processes to support enterprise data integration and analytics initiatives
• Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and cloud-based resiliency strategies
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database, platform, and data integration issues across on premises, hybrid, and cloud environments
• Support Dynamics GP and Dynamics 365 data platforms including integrations, reporting, migration efforts, and data modernization initiatives
• Automate operational processes using PowerShell, Azure DevOps, and deployment automation best practices
• Partner with analytics, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business teams to deliver secure, governed, and scalable enterprise data solutions
Key Requirements
• 7+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration, data platform engineering, or enterprise data platform support
• 3+ years of hands on experience with Azure data services including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Data Factory
• Strong experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Fabric components including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows, and Semantic Models
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, troubleshooting, backup and recovery strategies
• Experience supporting high availability and disaster recovery architectures within hybrid cloud environments
• Expertise in ETL and ELT development, data integration, and enterprise data platform architecture
• Experience supporting Dynamics GP and or Dynamics 365 data environments, integrations, and reporting platforms
• Proficiency with PowerShell scripting, automation, and operational process improvement
• Knowledge of data governance, security controls, access management, auditing, encryption, and compliance best practices
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
• Microsoft Certified Azure Database Administrator Associate certification
• Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate certification
• Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification highly preferred
• Experience supporting enterprise Power BI environments and semantic model management
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI CD pipelines, Git based deployment practices, and infrastructure as code concepts
• Experience with Microsoft Purview, enterprise data governance, and data cataloging initiatives
• Experience supporting ERP modernization efforts and Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 migration projects
• Proven ability to mentor database administrators, data engineers, analysts, and technical teams
