RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in New York that is seeking a highly technical Martech Platform Engineer to support a large-scale marketing technology transformation. This role is ideal for a hands-on marketing technologist who thrives in backend data, audience architecture, and platform automation - not someone focused solely on campaign execution or UI-based builds.
Summary:
This is an engineering-first Martech role, supporting the rollout and optimization of a consolidated email and SMS platform (Cordial). You'll work deeply with data models, segmentation logic, SQL, and automations, partnering closely with marketing, data, and technology teams. This role is based in NYC and open to 100% remote for non-local candidates. This role has strong contract to hire potential. It will start as a 9 month contract with right to hire FTE, after the initial contract term.
This role is:
* A technical Martech engineering role
* Heavy on audience architecture, backend data, and troubleshooting
* Focused on how data flows through the platform
* Hands-on with SQL, schemas, tables, and automation logic
This role is not:
* A campaign-only or email production role
* A -button pusher- or template-only position
* A purely creative or copy-focused marketing role
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build, and troubleshoot advanced audience segmentation using event- and attribute-level data
* Work directly with backend tables, schemas, and data models to support segmentation, QA, and personalization
* Write and debug SQL queries (Snowflake / CDP) to validate audiences and extract data for marketing use cases
* Build and maintain automations, triggered campaigns, and orchestrations within the marketing platform
* Implement dynamic content logic using AMPscript or Cordial Smarty syntax
* Own troubleshooting for segmentation, automation, and data-related issues across email and SMS
* Support platform enablement through documentation, best practices, and process improvements
REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of hands-on Martech, CRM, or Marketing Automation engineering experience
* Proven experience building audiences and segments from backend data (not UI-only filtering)
* Strong working knowledge of SQL, including writing and troubleshooting queries from scratch
* Experience working with schemas, tables, attributes, and events in a marketing or CDP environment
* Hands-on experience with Cordial, Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar platforms
* Experience setting up automations, journeys, or triggered messaging
* Ability to debug and QA complex segmentation and automation logic
* Experience supporting marketing teams as internal customers
Preferred/Nice-to-Have Skills:
* Experience with Snowflake or modern CDPs
* Working knowledge of AMPscript or Cordial Smarty
* Experience consolidating or migrating marketing platforms
* Strong understanding of suppression logic, frequency rules, and personalization frameworks
* Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and asking the right technical questions
