Position Overview

This is where senior mechanical engineers step into true technical and project leadership. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will drive the design and execution of complex HVAC and building systems that directly impact how facilities perform. You'll take ownership of projects from concept through construction, ensuring systems are not only technically sound but aligned with client goals, schedules, and real-world constructability.

This role is built for someone who wants influence-over projects, teams, and standards. Within a fully integrated, multidisciplinary environment, you'll collaborate across MEP and structural teams while mentoring junior engineers and refining internal processes. With direct visibility to leadership and clients, this position offers a platform to shape both project outcomes and the next generation of engineering talent.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, education, and institutional projects
  • Produce high-quality construction documents, including plans, specifications, and load calculations for permitting and execution
  • Manage project timelines, scope, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client expectations and internal standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, leading coordination meetings and maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and compliance with codes and standards
  • Coordinate closely with electrical, plumbing, structural, and civil teams to deliver fully integrated building systems
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, supporting their development and project contributions
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction administration support, including submittals, RFIs, and punch lists
  • Evaluate design alternatives and select appropriate mechanical systems and equipment based on project requirements
  • Contribute to process improvements, workflow optimization, and overall engineering excellence within the team

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience within the AEC or building systems environment
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) required
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of HVAC system design, load calculations, and equipment selection
    • Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Project Leadership: Proven experience managing projects, timelines, and client relationships

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience across healthcare, commercial, or institutional project types
  • Strong background in construction administration and field coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead engineering teams
  • Experience contributing to internal standards, QA/QC processes, or operational improvements
