Summary

Job Title: Structural Engineering Professional

Job Location: Remote

Job Type: Contract

Position Summary

As a Structural Engineering Professional, you will be an integral member of the design team, responsible for performing a significant portion of the structural analysis and design for facilities that support semiconductor manufacturing. This role requires experience in designing manufacturing facilities rather than bridges and transportation infrastructure.

You will work closely with the Structural Lead, Structural Engineers, Structural Designers, and other disciplines to develop design concepts, complete structural analysis and design, and communicate structural requirements through design documents and models.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in structural engineering fundamentals, knowledge of US building codes and seismic provisions, and an understanding of how structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines. This position may require you to serve as a Lead Structural Engineer on medium-sized projects or as a Sub Lead on larger projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all conventional aspects of structural engineering analysis and design competently, with little or no supervision.
  • Plan and conduct work requiring independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, seeking guidance or confirmation from others when necessary.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of lateral analysis and design principles, including wind and seismic loads, and apply the relevant building code provisions.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality control.
  • Check your own work and consult peers and senior engineers when questions arise.
  • Perform calculation checks of other engineers' work.
  • Take responsibility for managing workload, meeting commitments, and maintaining ownership of assigned work.
  • Manage the assigned portion of the structural scope to meet project schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Take initiative in addressing tasks with unclear requirements to meet project and client needs.
  • Clearly define the scope of work and estimate the effort required for completion.
  • Identify scope changes and escalate them to the Structural Lead or Project Manager.
  • Recognize when assistance is required and seek guidance from peers and senior engineers.
  • Complete work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to designers, drafters, and less experienced engineers.
  • Proactively improve workflows, systems, and tools within the structural discipline and embrace emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Structural Lead, Structural Engineers, Structural Designers, and other engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Proficiency in US building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
  • Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience leading small teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering, or a Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience with semiconductor industrial facilities or general industrial facilities.
  • Experience with STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
