Duration: Long Term

Job Description:
· As a Senior Software Engineer with a UI/UX and front-end engineering focus, the candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining accessible, user-centered interfaces for complex enterprise applications built on the ASP.NET MVC 5 technology stack.
· This role blends hands-on front-end coding with UI/UX design sensibility — translating business and user needs into clean, usable, and fully accessible experiences — while ensuring high-quality delivery within established timelines.
· The engineer will also write technical design specifications, perform unit testing, and produce clear technical and design documentation. Strong collaboration with business stakeholders, customers, designers, and cross-functional technology teams is essential.
· The College Board — a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to providing excellence and equity in education — manages a complex ecosystem of systems and applications that support students, educators, and institutions across multiple programs and services.
· Working within the Information Technology division and closely with Operations, UX, and business partners, this engineer will analyze existing interfaces and workflows and design scalable, reliable, and accessible solutions that improve usability, data quality, and operational efficiency.
· The ideal candidate is a senior, hands-on engineer with strong front-end craft and a genuine passion for UI/UX and accessibility, paired with solid experience developing and supporting ASP.NET MVC applications using C# and SQL Server in a Windows environment.
· They are comfortable working independently in established enterprise codebases, leveraging DevExpress components where appropriate, and delivering well-tested, accessible, production-ready solutions with minimal ramp-up.
Required Skills & Experience
· 5–8+ years of professional software development experience, with a significant focus on front-end / UI development
· Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, with an emphasis on writing clean, semantic, maintainable markup
· Demonstrated experience applying UI/UX design principles — information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, and usability best practices — to real product interfaces
· Hands-on experience implementing and testing for web accessibility, including WCAG 2.1/2.2 (AA) and Section 508 compliance
· Practical experience with ARIA roles/attributes, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, and testing with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers such as JAWS/NVDA/VoiceOver)
· Strong proficiency in C# and the ASP.NET MVC 5 framework
· Experience developing and supporting full-stack .NET applications in a Windows environment
· Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design/data modeling and writing T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support UI features
· Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and core computer science principles
· Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating front-end interfaces with internal and external systems
· Experience with unit testing and supporting QA, usability testing, and release processes
· Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best engineering practices
· Ability to analyze requirements, debug complex UI and cross-browser issues, and deliver reliable, polished solutions
Preferred Skills
· Experience with DevExpress UI components and reporting tools
· Formal training or certification in UX design, accessibility (e.g., IAAP CPACC/WAS), or human-centered design
· Experience conducting or supporting usability testing, accessibility audits, or design reviews
· Familiarity with design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) and translating designs into accessible front-end code
· Experience with financial aid, student systems, or higher education data
· Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
· Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy .NET applications, particularly front-end layers
· Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and source control systems such as Git
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advocate for users and accessibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
