Job Description:

We are seeking a Project Manager for the Resource Management Team. The successful candidate will lead projects from initiation through commissioning. Key responsibilities include defining project scope; developing and managing end-to-end budgets; controlling costs; and coordinating requirements with internal and external stakeholders, including developers, governmental agencies, and other parties-for the review, design/engineering, relocation, construction, and installation of electric facilities. The role also partners with Land Resources on right-of-way acquisition and permitting.

Position-Related Responsibilities

Coordinates Company resources to meet in-service dates for New Business, System Reinforcement, Public Improvement, and System Integrity & Restoration projects, ensuring timely, economical, and efficient construction and relocation of electric facilities for internal and external customers and governmental agencies.

Sets and communicates priorities for the review, design/engineering, and construction requirements of internal and external customers and organizations.

Applies extensive technical knowledge, sound judgment, and strong communication skills to resolve construction and relocation conflicts; address design/engineering inefficiencies; evaluate alternative designs; and recommend cost-effective methods that eliminate unnecessary costs to the Company.

Exercises independent judgment and discretion when coordinating and scheduling projects with customers and governmental agencies. Initiates and processes required construction contracts and billable charges associated with New Business, System Reinforcement, System Integrity & Restoration, and Public Improvement projects, and ensures accuracy and timeliness.

Identifies, escalates, and resolves issues related to contracts, permits, construction schedules, billing, and other matters to support the professional, efficient, and economical completion of work.

Communicate with Management to confirm proposed projects align with UNS goals. Leads formal and informal project meetings and communicates effectively with personnel at all levels, both in the office and in the field.

Provides Engineering and Planning with input on the feasibility, cost, schedule, and permitting requirements of proposed projects.

Supports the development of interconnection and construction agreements with other utilities and energy service providers.

Partners with Land Management to acquire easements and transmission right-of-way from landowners, or leases from the State Land Department, and ensure required construction permits are obtained.

Coordinates preliminary and detailed engineering activities and ensures scope documentation is appropriately reviewed and approved.

Supports the procurement of materials required for project construction and provides recommendations that optimize cost and reliability.

Supports the development of bid documents and contracts for external engineering and construction services.

Develop and secures budgetary project estimates for incorporation into the Capital Budget.

Collaborates with Budget Planning & Analysis and Accounting to obtain timely financial reporting and manage projects within budget limitations.

Develop detailed project schedules that reflect appropriate durations for permitting, land acquisition, design, procurement, and construction. Coordinates with design engineers and construction supervisors to align staffing and maintain schedule performance.

Use project management software to track and report project resources and overall status.

Monitors schedule performance and work progress to ensure proper coordination during the design/engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning phases of assigned projects.

Facilitates project commissioning, including coordination with Operations.

Closes out projects by securing as-built drawings, communicating schedule and budget variances, and evaluating individual, departmental, and contracted services.

May serve as the Company's representative at monthly utility coordination meetings hosted by governmental agencies
