Summary

Looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a large Air Force, IT enterprise, Cyber Weapons System/Program in San Antonio, TX.

In this role, you will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of hybrid cloud and virtualization infrastructures across multiple platforms, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and OCI. You will leverage Infrastructure-as-Code tools, containerization, orchestration, and monitoring solutions to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective operations. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will integrate cloud services, enforce security and compliance standards, and support CI/CD pipelines within a DevSecOps framework. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot complex issues, and document processes to maintain operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and manage hybrid cloud infrastructures across on-premises and commercial/government cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OCI) using both IaaS and PaaS solutions.
  • Maintain and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and cloud-native virtualization solutions.
  • Automate deployments, configurations, and scaling of resources using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools including Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
  • Integrate multiple cloud teams, processes, and instances to deliver cohesive enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Implement and manage containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for microservices architectures.
  • Monitor cloud and virtualization environments to ensure availability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application, and system issues, conducting root cause analysis when necessary.
  • Apply and enforce security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and network segmentation, ensuring compliance with frameworks such as RMF, NIST, and ISO 27001.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and incorporate automation into the software development lifecycle.
  • Configure and manage monitoring and incident management tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) to maintain operational excellence.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing and operational consistency.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and collaborative teamwork.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure solutions with business and mission needs.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires BS and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Must have an advanced cloud certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer for example).
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI

Preferred Skills and Certifications:
  • Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer.
  • Security Certifications: CISSP, CEH, GIAC or Cloud Security Automation (GCSA).
  • Experience with security frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-53).
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages, such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Familiarity with log management and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, or ELK stack).
  • Experience with SIEM and/or SOAR tools and capabilities.
