Senior Data Quality Engineer

Location: Home, Maryland (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Quality Engineer to develop automation tools for data validation and reconciliation. This role involves building and maintaining API endpoints, designing data validation frameworks, and integrating automation workflows to ensure data accuracy and integrity across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop automation tools to validate and reconcile data between API responses and database queries using PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
• Build and maintain FastAPI endpoints utilizing Pydantic BaseModel for data validation and SQLAlchemy ORM for database integration.
• Leverage Python libraries such as Requests and JSON to interact with REST APIs and automate API-based testing.
• Design and execute data validation frameworks using pytest and Pandas to ensure accuracy across multiple data sources.
• Create Streamlit dashboards for the visualization of validation results, metrics, and exception reports.
• Integrate automation workflows with Databricks and SQL pipelines to support large-scale data validation.
• Utilize Jira for Agile sprint tracking and maintain code quality through GitHub for version control and CI/CD workflows.
• Document reusable FastAPI modules, validation schemas, and automation utilities.

Required Qualifications

Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field is required.

Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Python, including automation and data validation frameworks (pytest, Pandas, Requests, JSON).
• Experience with FastAPI, including Pydantic, BaseModel, and SQLAlchemy ORM.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL and Snowflake, including secure connection handling.
• Ability to design and automate validation between API responses and database queries.
• Proficiency in REST API integration using Requests, FastAPI, and Uvicorn.
• Familiarity with GitHub and Jira for Agile project management.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, API authentication (JWT/OAuth2), and data integrity testing.
• Experience optimizing SQL queries and FastAPI endpoints.
• Knowledge of Databricks and integrating validation workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing Streamlit dashboards for real-time visualization.
• Exposure to AWS services (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3) for deploying solutions.
• Understanding of Docker or Kubernetes for containerization.
• Familiarity with data quality frameworks and ETL testing in enterprise environments.
