Purpose

  • We are pursuing a major hyperscale data center development opportunity.

Key responsibilities

  • Review the project information, customer questions, and our company’s capabilities before the scheduled meetings.
  • Identify gaps, ambiguities, and assumptions in the project brief, including capacity, rack density, investment scope,
  • workloads, delivery responsibilities, and timelines.

  • Prepare our leadership team through briefing sessions and a mock customer discussion, including challenging technical and commercial questions.
  • Join the customer calls, lead or support technical discussions, ask relevant discovery questions, and explain options and tradeoffs clearly.
  • Assess what our company can credibly deliver, what requires specialist partners, and what additional expertise is needed.
  • Document requirements, decisions, unanswered questions, risks, and recommended next steps after each call.
  • Support preparation of the initial scope of work, proposed team structure, and follow-up technical response.

Areas the consultant must be able to discuss

Capacity planning, IT power requirements, rack densities, phased expansion, and workload assumptions.
Power architecture, redundancy, liquid cooling, high density infrastructure, and facility readiness.
Compute, storage, networking, connectivity, and infrastructure management.
Availability, resilience, security, commissioning, acceptance testing, and operational readiness.
Project sequencing, equipment lead times, procurement dependencies, delivery governance, and major cost drivers.
Responsibility boundaries between the customer, consultants, construction partners, equipment vendors, and our team.

The consultant should recognize when a question requires detailed engineering or specialist input and manage that follow-up without making unsupported commitments.

Required experience

  • Highly experienced in hyperscale data center consulting, architecture, engineering, infrastructure delivery, or technical program leadership
  • Direct involvement in hyperscale or comparably complex mission critical data center projects
  • Experience leading early customer discovery, technical due diligence, solution discussions, or consulting proposals.
  • Broad understanding of both facility infrastructure and IT systems, with deep expertise in at least one major discipline.
  • Strong executive communication skills and the ability to respond calmly and precisely to detailed customer questions.
  • Demonstrable project experience, with clear examples of personal responsibility and outcomes.

Immediate deliverables
Before Monday’s calls:

  • A concise project understanding and assumptions brief.
  • An anticipated customer question and answer pack.
  • A prioritized list of questions we should ask the customer.
  • A briefing and rehearsal with our leadership team.
  • An agreed approach for handling technical questions and follow-up commitments during the calls.

After the calls:

  • A requirements and action summary, with owners and open questions.
  • A recommendation for the next phase, including scope, specialist support, and proposed deliverables.

Success Measures

  • Our team enters the meetings well prepared; the customer receives credible, clear responses; uncertainties are identified accurately; and the discussions conclude with an agreed path forward.
