Job Details

On April 15th, 2025 the United Medical Center permanently (UMC) closed as Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened to service the residents in Ward 8. OCTO's Enterprise Cloud and Infrastructure Service's (ECIS) team has been asked to support the the closure of UMC including providing data, infrastructure, networking, and telecommunication services.

ECIS is looking for a qualified resource to serve as system engineer to provide expertise in IT systems related to the operation of a healthcare facility.

Primary Responsibilities:
Execute the decommissioning of critical hospital IT systems (servers, network infrastructure, SAN/NAS storage, cloud platforms) as part of wind-down operations.
Plan and implement structured shutdowns of high-risk systems (e.g., EHR, PACS, pharmacy), ensuring data retention/export aligns with regulatory timelines
Lead the final configuration, encryption, and air-gapped backup of legacy data sets, ensuring their safe transfer or archival.
Decommission cybersecurity systems (e.g., firewalls, endpoint protection, VPNs) and coordinate revocation of credentials and certificates across domains.
Provide Tier 3 escalation support for the final round of critical system incidents before permanent shutdown.
Support separating or redirecting key digital infrastructure services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, directory services) to the parent entity s control.
Document all decommissioning processes, configurations, and final state inventories for internal and regulatory review.

CONTRACT JOB DESCRIPTION
