Job Description
Power BI Developer
Job Summary:
- The Power BI professional will design, develop, and deliver scalable Business Intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The role involves turning raw data into meaningful insights through interactive dashboards, reports, data models, and analytics solutions.
- The position requires strong analytical skills, hands‑on technical expertise, and the ability to interact with business stakeholders to translate requirements into BI solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Power BI Development
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models based on business requirements 1 6 7.
- Create DAX calculations, calculated columns, and measures to support complex analytics 6 7.
- Build tabular/multidimensional models following data warehouse standards 7.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines, data transformations, and cleansing routines for analytics readiness 6 7.
Data Integration & Modeling
- Connect Power BI to various data sources such as SQL Server, Excel, cloud services, APIs, Snowflake, ADF, Databricks, and other enterprise systems 3 1.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) for high‑quality reporting datasets.
- Implement row-level security, performance tuning, and optimization of datasets and reports 7.
Stakeholder Interaction
- Collaborate with business teams, SMEs, and leadership to understand BI needs 7 6.
- Gather requirements and convert them into technical BI specifications and architecture.
- Provide regular demos, presentations, and deliver insights that support operational and strategic decisions 9.
Deployment & Administration
- Publish reports to Power BI Service, configure gateways, schedule refreshes, and manage workspaces.
- Support governance, documentation, metadata management, and version control.
Automation & Power Platform (if applicable)
- From enterprise JDs that include Power BI + PowerApps + automation 3:
- Build PowerApps (Canvas/Model-driven) apps and integrate with BI.
- Use Power Automate for workflow automation.
- Write automation scripts using Python/VBA as required for data prep or internal tooling.
Mandatory Skills: (From enterprise requirements and industry standards)
- Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI (Desktop + Service) 1.
- Proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, and visualization best practices 4 5.
- Strong SQL experience; comfortable with joins, stored procedures, views.
- Experience connecting to enterprise data sources (SQL, ADF, Databricks, Snowflake, Excel, APIs) 3.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and BI architecture.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and drive business insights.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills 9 3.
Good to Have:
- Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, and Microsoft Dataverse 3 10.
- Knowledge of Azure services (ADF, Databricks, Synapse), AWS or cloud data platforms.
- Python scripting, VBA automation, Excel modeling 3.
- Experience in Agile, DevOps, CI/CD for analytics solutions.
- Exposure to embedding Power BI into applications via APIs 7.
