Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Wireless Network Engineer to support a Cisco enterprise networking and campus wireless deployment. The engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and migrating Cisco wireless infrastructure, including Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), Access Points, and integration with Cisco Catalyst Center.
The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting workshops, performing gap analysis, developing design and implementation documentation, and executing migration activities.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Requirements & Analysis
Conduct remote project kick-off workshops with stakeholders to understand requirements and existing wireless architecture.
Review current network documentation and future architecture plans.
Perform gap analysis between the current environment and proposed wireless solution.
Develop and document Wireless Solution Requirements.
Solution Design
Design Cisco wireless architecture including:
Up to 2 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs)
Up to 1500 Access Points
Up to 6 Wireless Profiles
Ensure integration with Cisco Catalyst Center.
Document system interoperability, network architecture, and design considerations.
Present and review the design with Cisco teams and customer stakeholders.
Implementation Planning
Develop a detailed implementation plan including:
Implementation procedures
Deployment sequence
Scheduling and change management
Rollback procedures.
Testing & Validation
Develop comprehensive Wireless Test Plans.
Define test cases, expected results, and pass/fail criteria.
Execute testing and troubleshooting to validate deployment.
Implementation & Configuration
Install and configure Cisco wireless infrastructure according to the design.
Configure WLCs, Access Points, wireless profiles, and network settings.
Update documentation to reflect the implemented solution.
Migration Activities
Develop a Wireless Migration Plan for transitioning the solution to production.
Execute migration activities during approved change windows (up to 3).
Ensure minimal disruption during migration.
Knowledge Transfer
Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for customer technical teams.
Provide training materials related to the deployed Cisco wireless technologies.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with Cisco Wireless Networking.
Hands-on experience with:
Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
Cisco Access Points
Cisco Catalyst Center
Experience designing and implementing enterprise wireless networks.
Strong understanding of:
Wireless architecture and configuration
Network design and documentation
Wireless deployment and migration strategies
Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation.
Ability to conduct technical workshops and collaborate with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in large-scale wireless deployments (1000+ access points).
Cisco certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCIE Enterprise Wireless, or CCNA.
Experience working in enterprise campus network environments.
