Summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced, highly strategic communications leader to support the Chief Technologist and the Office of Technology. This role will shape and execute communications strategies that position Leidos as a trusted innovator in mission-focused technology, while translating advanced technical concepts into compelling narratives for customers, partners, and employees.

Reporting to the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer and working in close partnership with the Chief Technologist, this individual will serve as a trusted advisor and integrator while leading and managing a team focused on telling Leidos' technology story internally and externally.

This role requires a rare blend of technical fluency, strategic communications expertise, and credibility in technology ecosystems.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary communications advisor to the Chief Technologist, supporting executive positioning, thought leadership, and internal influence.
  • Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy for the Office of Technology that aligns with enterprise priorities and reinforces Leidos' technology leadership.
  • Translate complex, forward-leaning technology concepts (e.g., emerging tech, R&D, innovation investments) into clear, mission-relevant narratives for government audiences.
  • Shape and manage external thought leadership platforms, including speeches, op-eds, articles, conference participation, and media opportunities.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications and sector communication teams on proactive media engagement related to technology innovation, emerging capabilities, and future mission needs.
  • Ensure consistent, credible positioning of Leidos' technology strategy across market-facing materials, websites, and executive content.
  • Support internal forums, leadership engagements, and enterprise-wide tools and initiatives that elevate awareness of the Office of Technology's work.
  • Act as a connector across sectors, and corporate functional teams to ensure alignment and amplification of technology messaging.
  • Collaborate with Growth, Strategy, and sector communications teams to align technology narratives with customer needs and market priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate Office of Technology messaging into broader enterprise campaigns and initiatives.
  • Serve as a brand champion, ensuring communications reflect Leidos' values, credibility, and mission focus.
  • Support issues and crisis communications related to technology topics, as needed.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or related field and 12+ years of progressive experience in communications, with a strong emphasis on technology-driven organizations. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
  • Ability to lead and mentor others through strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience supporting senior executives as a trusted communications advisor.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute integrated communications strategies for large, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong understanding of technology ecosystems, including mission customers and regulated environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and ambiguous problem sets.
  • Proficiency with modern communications channels and collaboration tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with or supporting CTOs, Chief Technologists, R&D organizations, or innovation offices.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and innovation lifecycles (e.g., AI, cyber, digital engineering, advanced analytics).
  • Proficiency in AP style.
  • Prior internal communications and employee engagement experience.
  • Experience using collaborative software and workflow management tools.
