Overview We are seeking a Production Support Java Software Developer to join a dedicated application support team responsible for maintaining the reliability, performance, and efficiency of core business operations. Our systems range from high-volume payment processing engines and customer-facing web services to modern web applications re-engineered from legacy client-server architectures.
Unlike rigid sprint-based feature development, this role focuses on ensuring high system availability, diagnosing complex production issues, and deploying targeted patches and enhancements. You will work closely with a small technical team (4-7 peers) alongside experienced technology leaders using modern DevOps methodologies and Atlassian tools.
What You'll Do As a full-stack production support engineer, you will troubleshoot, patch, and optimize systems across the entire application stack:
- Production Support & Incident Management: Investigate and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement permanent fixes.
- Back-End Services & Database Operations: Tune SQL queries, troubleshoot APIs, optimize performance, and maintain data integrity.
- Monitoring & Performance: Monitor application health, analyze logs, identify performance bottlenecks, and proactively address system vulnerabilities.
- Code Fixes & Enhancements: Develop and deploy bug fixes, minor enhancements, and security patches for Java-based applications.
- Front-End & Workflow Logic: Update controller logic, modify UI views, and maintain core application workflows.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Write and maintain unit, integration, and regression tests (using BDD/TDD methodologies) to ensure stability.
- Release & Deployment: Assist with production deployments, validate releases, and support rollback activities when necessary.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with developers, QA, DevOps engineers, DBAs, and business stakeholders to drive system reliability.
- Documentation: Maintain clear technical runbooks, support procedures, and knowledge base articles.
