What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator with 10+ years of hands-on database administration experience, including at least 5 years of recent, deep expertise in PostgreSQL. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, scalability, and security of PostgreSQL database environments supporting a mission-critical government program. The ideal candidate can own core PostgreSQL responsibilities on day one, ramp quickly on program-specific tooling, and build strong customer trust through technical expertise and reliability. This role requires an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and is fully on-site in Washington, DC.
What You Will Do:
Design, implement, manage, and tune PostgreSQL databases in an enterprise environment.
Own high availability and disaster recovery configurations for PostgreSQL environments.
Perform database performance tuning, backups, replication, and recovery.
Enforce database security controls, including encryption, key management, and compliance-aligned auditing.
Enforce access controls, auditing, governance, and retention policies.
Manage schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and permissions.
Manage Kubernetes clusters and support containerized database and application operations.
Administer CI/CD pipelines and automation supporting database and application delivery.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborative delivery activities.
Support production operations with urgency and operational discipline.
Communicate technical risks, issues, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

What We Require:
Active Top Secret clearance with current or previously held SCI access
10+ years of hands-on database administration experience
5+ years of recent experience as a DBA or database engineer with a primary focus on PostgreSQL
Experience with PostgreSQL high availability, disaster recovery, replication, and performance tuning in enterprise environments
Experience enforcing database security controls (encryption, key management, auditing)
Experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
DoD 8140-compliant certification (e.g., Security+, GSEC, or higher)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute
Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC
Preferred:
Master's degree
Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, Amazon RDS)
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar
