This position is well suited for an experienced engineer who can lead technical scopes, make sound engineering decisions in complex situations, and collaborate closely with operations, preconstruction, and project teams to deliver practical, buildable solutions. This position operates in or directly supports Responsible Charge, depending on project needs and licensing requirements.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Perform structural engineering design of temporary structures used in the construction and demolition of structures, including shoring, reshoring, falsework, formwork, crane foundations, crane tie-back connections, and temporary stability bracing
Perform structural engineering design for construction procedures, including erection plans, demolition sequencing, jacking operations, and post-tensioning sequences
Perform structural evaluation of existing and proposed structures for temporary loads and conditions, including equipment loading, hoisting, and temporary attachments to permanent works
Operate in Responsible Charge (EOR) for engineering deliverables, including directing the efforts of engineering staff and sealing calculations, reports, and plans in accordance with applicable licensing requirements
Perform quality control reviews of engineering work prepared by internal staff and external consultants, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and standards
Provide technical oversight and direction across multiple projects, including identifying risks, evaluating alternatives, and determining appropriate engineering approaches
Define appropriate engineering scope for projects and clearly communicate expectations, risks, and limitations to project teams
Guide project teams on engineering best practices, constructability considerations, and risk mitigation strategies
Support preconstruction efforts by evaluating design concepts, identifying risks, and contributing to means and methods development
Support operations teams by evaluating field issues, including non-conforming work, and developing or reviewing remediation strategies
Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, including providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback
Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering standards, procedures, and tools to improve consistency and efficiency across the department
Support legal and operations teams by providing technical expertise in dispute resolution, claims, or investigations as required
