Senior Project/Program Manager

Our Chicago-based client is launching an enterprise-wide initiative designed to accelerate efficiency, reduce operational costs, and modernize business processes through automation and AI-enabled solutions.

To support the work, they will be standing up “Automation Pods” led by two to three Senior Project/Program Managers. The program will begin with a strong focus on rapid proof-of-concept (POC) development, targeting high-value, quick-win use cases. Successful POCs will be scaled into production-ready solutions and deployed across core business functions, including Finance, Business Development, and Talent/HR.

Delivery will be executed in close collaboration with a third-party automation/AI vendor, with internal resources leading program governance, business analysis, and cross-functional coordination. A critical component of success will be ensuring effective change management, training, and user adoption as new tools and processes are introduced.

This engagement will run for 6 months, with an opportunity for extension, and will follow a hybrid work model (2 days onsite). Resources will be based in Chicago.

Overview:
The Senior Program/Project Managers will lead the end-to-end delivery of automation initiatives, from ideation and POC execution through enterprise deployment. They will serve as the primary liaison between the client, vendor, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and execution of automation pods and POC initiatives
• Manage delivery across the full lifecycle: intake, prioritization, development, testing, and deployment
• Partner with the external automation/AI vendor to ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and deliverables
• Drive program governance, including status reporting, risk management, and executive communications
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, including:
  • Business stakeholders (Finance, BD, HR)
  • Change Management
  • Training and Enablement
• Ensure successful scaling of POCs into production solutions
• Track and report on value realization (cost savings, efficiency gains)
• Support resource planning and roadmap development

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in program/project management, preferably in digital transformation or automation initiatives covering one or more of the following functional areas

• Proven experience working with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams
• Strong understanding of process automation, AI, or emerging technologies
• Demonstrated success in change management and enterprise deployment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification preferred
