Position Summary

Client is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Database Engineer to architect, develop, and document Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions for cloud database platforms. The successful candidate will create reusable Terraform libraries, automate database provisioning, establish CI/CD pipelines, and enable consistent deployment and lifecycle management of AWS database services.

Key Responsibilities

Develop reusable Terraform modules and templates for AWS database platforms.

  • Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code standards for database provisioning and upgrades.
  • Create CI/CD pipelines supporting database infrastructure deployments.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks for AWS database services.
  • Establish best practices for database configuration, security, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring.
  • Create detailed technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Support migration and modernization initiatives leveraging AWS-native services.
  • Implement automated database patching and version upgrade frameworks.
  • Work with development and platform teams to improve deployment consistency and governance.
  • Mentor internal teams on IaC, automation, and cloud database operations.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of database administration experience.

  • 5+ years of AWS cloud experience.
  • 5+ years of Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
  • Experience with:

o Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL

    • Amazon Aurora MySQL
    • Amazon RDS
    • Amazon EC2
  • Strong experience with GitLab CI/CD or equivalent DevOps platforms.
  • Experience creating enterprise IaC standards and reusable automation assets.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting production-critical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AWS DMS and AWS SCT migration tools.

  • SQL Server and Oracle administration experience.
  • Database performance tuning expertise.
  • Financial services environment experience.
  • Kubernetes and container platform familiar
