Role - QA Manager with Healthcare
Location: Chicago, IL
Role Overview
The Test Lead/Manager will oversee QA activities for a healthcare-focused, Java-based provider portal application. The role includes establishing testing strategies, managing automation (Selenium + API), supporting CI/CD integration, and leading a growing QA team.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & API Testing
• Guide teams in API test strategy, including functional and integration testing for healthcare APIs.
• Utilize and improve the existing Selenium-based automation framework for UI testing.
• Provide support in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous execution.
• Work with test automation enabling functions to implement best practices in reusability, maintainability, and scalability.
Non Functional & Cross Functional Support
• Support performance engineering, security testing, and overall non functional testing integration.
• Ensure test environments are stable, available, and well-governed in collaboration with enabling functions.
• Work with infrastructure teams to optimize resource utilization and reduce environment downtime.
Quality Leadership
• Create test strategies for projects of any size or complexity, covering test needs, tools, dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Identify and champion best practices and process improvements across QA teams.
• Provide leadership in ensuring product quality across functional, performance, cloud-readiness, and security dimensions.
• Present QA capabilities, testing accelerators, and solution proposals to customers.
Team Management
• Lead and manage QA team members—plan, delegate, review, and audit their work.
• Mentor team members and coordinate with other departments and clients on test results and recommendations.
• Communicate concerns, missing items, and dependencies clearly to all stakeholders.
• Manage delivery and support requests from assigned account teams.
• Project & Stakeholder Management
• Understand business requirements and create Functional/Automation strategies aligned with project goals.
• Propose automation solutions based on technical and business needs.
• Estimate, review, and plan testing efforts with senior leadership.
• Report project progress, risks, and mitigation plans to ensure on time delivery.
• Communicate project health using metrics, data points, and improvement plans.
• Engage effectively with customer stakeholders and demonstrate strong communication & presentation skills.
QE Expertise
• Demonstrate a solution-oriented QE mindset to leverage automation and reduce unproductive efforts.
• Bring strong understanding of QA methodologies, processes, and tools across functional and non-functional testing.
• Deliver a portfolio of projects across varied technology landscapes—including maintenance, migration, and new implementations.
Educational Qualifications:
· Required - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or closely related or equivalent.
· Preferred - Master’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Big Data or Analytics or equivalent.
Travel:
· Open to travel based-up on the nature of the engagement.
