Description

SAIC is seeking a Journeyman IT Specialist with 9-13 years of experience to support a critical mission in support of the Department of the Air Force C3BM office. The position requires comprehensive support of IT infrastructure in real-time operational environments. Primary responsibilities include system configuration, troubleshooting, database and systems administration, and ensuring consistent operational readiness of aerial and ground nodes. This position is onsite in Anchorage, AK. This role is contingent upon contract award expected in the first quarter of this year.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Monitoring & Support:
  • Provide real-time monitoring of systems during all phases of mission execution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve emergency and priority issues affecting system performance.
  • Document and escalate unresolved anomalies or degradation to higher-tier support.

System Configuration & Maintenance
  • Manage the configuration and inventory of systems (hardware and software) and ensure alignment with Configuration Management Plans.
  • Address node issues, including hardware repairs, software updates, and system replacements.

Database & Systems Administration
  • Administer classified databases, ensuring consistent uptime and performance.
  • Manage user access, backup restoration processes, and disaster recovery efforts.

Feedback & Documentation
  • Deliver system performance reports and recommendations to Government leadership.
  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, system trends, and identified deficiencies.

Service Desk Integration
  • Interact with the Help Desk to log and address IT issues, ensuring resolutions are tracked and escalated effectively.

Compliance with Procedures
  • Adhere to strict operational and security standards established by the host command.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Management, or a related field.

Experience:
  • 9-13 years of proven IT systems support, including configuration management, troubleshooting, and operational monitoring in classified or military environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructures, classified systems, and enterprise IT processes.

Clearance: Active SECRET clearance with ths ability to obtain a TS/SCI.

Certifications (One or more required based on SAIC standards):
  • CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Cloud+.
  • CASP+ (Advanced Security Practitioner) for advanced security roles.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).
  • Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate or CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  • ITIL Foundation or ITIL Practitioner Certification.

Location: Onsite at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.

Schedule: Standard work hours transitioning to 24/7 operational support teams as mission needs evolve.

Compliance: Comply with Department of Defense (DoD) IT training, certification, and vaccination requirements.
