Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Principal AWS Cloud Platform Architect to lead a large-scale cloud modernization initiative involving Kubernetes platform engineering, multi-region AWS architecture, and cloud-native platform transformation.
The architect will serve as the technical authority for the platform modernization workstream, providing architecture leadership, customer advisory services, design governance, and production migration oversight.
This is a highly customer-facing role requiring deep expertise in AWS cloud architecture, Kubernetes, infrastructure modernization, platform engineering, and large-scale production deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Leadership
- Serve as the lead architect for AWS platform modernization initiatives.
- Define target-state cloud architecture and multi-region deployment patterns.
- Lead architecture workshops, technical reviews, and design governance activities.
- Establish cloud-native architecture standards and best practices.
Platform Engineering
- Design and review large-scale Amazon EKS environments.
- Provide guidance on Kubernetes architecture, scaling, resiliency, and operational readiness.
- Define deployment strategies for highly available and fault-tolerant workloads.
- Review infrastructure-as-code strategies and platform automation approaches.
Cloud Infrastructure
- Architect AWS networking solutions including:
- VPCs
- Transit Gateway
- PrivateLink
- Route53
- Hybrid connectivity
- Design security and access patterns leveraging:
- AWS WAF
- API Gateway
- IAM
- Security services
Reliability & Operations
- Define multi-region high-availability and disaster recovery strategies.
- Lead observability and monitoring strategy development.
- Support operational readiness reviews and production cutover activities.
- Define rollback and business continuity approaches.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary architecture advisor for customer stakeholders.
- Work with engineering, operations, infrastructure, and product teams.
- Present architecture recommendations to executive and technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in cloud architecture, platform engineering, or infrastructure consulting.
- 5+ years architecting enterprise-scale AWS environments.
- Deep expertise with:
- Amazon EKS
- Kubernetes
- AWS Networking
- Infrastructure as Code
- Cloud Security
- Experience designing highly available multi-region architectures.
- Strong understanding of:
