Job OverviewThe Principal Architect for Fairview will lead the strategic planning, design, and implementation of application architecture across the organization. The position will collaborate with IT Applications leadership and business stakeholders to ensure that application architectures align with the broader technology strategy and business goals, particularly focusing on optimizing patient care delivery systems. This role is accountable for team member leadership.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a comprehensive application architecture strategy and roadmap that aligns with the health system's long-term business objectives.
- Lead architectural reviews and provide technical leadership in major project initiatives, ensuring that solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure.
- Collaborate with IT and business leadership to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions.
- Drive the adoption of architectural standards and frameworks, such as TOGAF, and mentor team members in best practices.
- Provide leadership and guidance in the evaluation and selection of software products and tools.
- Manage and lead a team of architects, fostering a collaborative team environment and focusing on skill development and performance management.
- Work with vendors and external stakeholders to ensure that the technology solutions align with the health system's architecture standards and business objectives.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in application architecture and healthcare IT to drive innovation and operational excellence.
- Manage a team of architects. Responsible for staff recruitment, performance, engagement, and retention.
Required Qualifications- B.S./B.A. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or combination of related experience/education
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in IT, with at least 5 years in an architectural role focusing on application strategy and design
- Experience leading large-scale projects and proven track record of delivering complex software solutions
- Experience with leading teams and complex projects
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other leaders and influence outcomes
- Prior experience in leading teams directly and/or indirectly or similar experience
Preferred Qualifications- B.S./B.A. in Computer Science or Information Technology
- Leadership skills with experience in people management and team development
- Understanding of healthcare applications and the regulatory environment
- Certification in TOGAF or similar architectural frameworks
