Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Storage Engineer with deep expertise in Dell EMC NAS and Object Storage platforms to support enterprise-scale storage infrastructure operations.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting, deploying, administering, optimizing, and troubleshooting large-scale storage environments, primarily focused on Dell EMC PowerScale/Isilon and ECS platforms.
This role requires strong knowledge of storage networking, disaster recovery, automation, performance tuning, and enterprise storage protocols supporting massive volumes of unstructured data across file and object storage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect, deploy, and administer Dell EMC NAS platforms including PowerScale/Isilon, Unity, and PowerStore
Manage Dell EMC Object Storage platforms including ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage) and ObjectScale
Perform storage provisioning, allocation, tiering, and capacity planning for enterprise environments
Support large-scale unstructured data environments across file and object storage protocols
Monitor and optimize performance within OneFS and ECS environments to ensure high throughput and low latency
Identify performance bottlenecks and conduct storage tuning activities
Design and maintain disaster recovery and replication solutions using SyncIQ and ECS Geo-Replication
Manage snapshots, NDMP backups, and integrations with Data Domain (PowerProtect DD)
Plan and execute non-disruptive storage scaling, node additions, firmware updates, and OneFS upgrades
Implement and maintain storage security controls including RBAC, encryption, SmartQuotas, and directory integrations
Integrate storage platforms with Active Directory, LDAP, and Kerberos services
Develop automation workflows and scripts using Python, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, or REST APIs
Serve as Tier 3 escalation support for complex NAS and Object Storage incidents
Work closely with Dell EMC vendor support teams to resolve hardware and software issues
Create and maintain architecture documentation, SOPs, operational runbooks, and diagrams
Required Skills:
5+ years of enterprise storage engineering experience
3+ years of hands-on experience with Dell EMC storage platforms
Deep expertise with Dell EMC PowerScale/Isilon (OneFS) architecture
Experience with SmartPools, SmartQuotas, SyncIQ, InsightIQ, and DataIQ
Proven experience deploying and managing Dell EMC ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage)
Strong understanding of object storage architectures, buckets, namespaces, and geo-replication
Advanced knowledge of file and object storage protocols including:
NFS v3/v4
SMB/CIFS
S3 API
Strong understanding of storage networking concepts including:
TCP/IP
DNS
VLANs
LACP
Experience integrating storage environments with Active Directory, LDAP, and Kerberos
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex storage environments
Experience analyzing storage logs, metrics, and performance data
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with additional Dell EMC storage arrays including PowerMax and VPLEX
Experience with SAN switches such as Brocade and Cisco MDS
Familiarity with hybrid cloud storage tiering solutions such as CloudPools with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management tools including Ansible and Terraform
Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash
Experience working in enterprise-scale data center environments
