Mechanical Engineer II - Onsite

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for an Onsite position with a Leading Technology Firm located in New York, NY. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

At the forefront of new computing and human input technologies, this role requires a Mechanical Engineer with experience in rapid prototyping, fixture development, and mechanical testing. The ideal candidate will have the curiosity to research and investigate the design and functionality of a new class of wearable technology. In this role, you will prototype and rework design concepts, generate fixture designs, make engineering drawings, execute testing, and analyze results.

Responsibilities:

• Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test wearable devices with a focus on rapid prototyping and device rework/repair
• Design mechanical test fixtures and generate testing procedures
• Execute mechanical testing to characterize hardware using both standard and custom testing procedures
• Analyze test data against hardware specifications
• Assist on device failure analysis
• Provide 2D/3D of fixture and prototype concepts

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required
• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability
• Team player and detail-oriented
• Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations
• Experience to model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
• Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD)
• Experience with mechanical test and inspection equipment such as Instron, microscopes, OMM, temperature and humidity chambers
• Experience with prototyping equipment such as 3DP, laser cutter, heating elements, adhesives dispense/activation, soldering
• This role is 100% in-office and lab work

Desired skills:

• NX CAD experience

Pay range: up to $61.74 per hour
