The Job

The Journeyman, Mechanical is a skilled tradesperson who has completed an apprenticeship and is fully qualified to work independently in the mechanical trades involving one or more of the following: heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, piping, or mechanical systems.

The Journeyman will be responsible for performing journey-level mechanical duties in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of gasoline, diesel, battery, and electric equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Break-fix of all Electro-mechanical systems (HVAC, Hydronics, Appliances, Rollup doors, dock locks, air compressors, etc.).
  • Conduct spill and leak detection system inspections and repairs as needed.
  • Hydronic rack cooling (Deschutes) maintenance and commissioning.
  • PMs on HVAC and Hydronic systems (Pumps, Strainers, Cooling Towers, etc.).
  • Team scheduling and material requisition.
  • Contribute to site failure reporting (Equipment Status Log).
  • Provide mechanical project support.
  • Clean In Place on heat exchangers.
  • Chiller tube inspections and cleaning.
  • Site plumbing maintenance/repair.
  • Conduct eyewash stations/shower maintenance and inspections.
  • Perform forklift maintenance.
  • Perform gas valve preventative maintenance.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Formal vocational school training completion in the fundamentals of the specific trade is required.
  • 7+ years of increasingly responsible experience in the specific trade, required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness and ability to follow guidance from other staff members and management.
  • Basic understanding of email and MS Office software is required.
  • A positive and professional attitude is always required, with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and small hand tools.
  • Prior military or technical school training, preferred.

Minimal travel between data centers may be required as needed.

Work Environment

This job operates in a data center, office, and shop environment. This role routinely uses standard maintenance equipment, including ladders, scissor lifts, forklifts, power tools, and voltmeters. While performing these duties, the employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, onsite position. This role supports a 24-7/365 product that commits to 99.9999% uptime. Our organization and teams are structured to meet this demand. Some nights and weekends may be required.
