Junior Engineer with a passion for backend and full-stack development who's eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real products used at scale.
This role is for someone early in their career who writes clean code, asks great questions, and wants to build solid engineering habits from day one. You'll work alongside experienced engineers who will help you level up - while you contribute meaningfully to the systems and services that power our customer experiences on AWS.
This position is based in Plano, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.What You'll Be Doing: - Build and maintain backend services and APIs as part of a collaborative engineering team
- Write clean, well-tested code in TypeScript and/or Python for serverless and full-stack applications
- Participate in code reviews - both giving and receiving feedback to grow your skills and improve code quality
- Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and team planning sessions
- Debug and troubleshoot issues across the stack with support from senior engineers
- Learn and apply engineering best practices: testing, observability, version control, and deployment workflows
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver features from concept to production
- Take ownership of well-scoped tasks and deliver them with increasing independence over time
What you bring- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience (bootcamp, self-taught with portfolio, etc.)
- Up to 2 years of software engineering experience (internships and academic projects count)
- Foundational knowledge of at least one backend language - TypeScript (Node.js) or Python preferred
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs - how they work, how to build and consume them
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows (branching, pull requests, code review)
- Exposure to cloud services (AWS preferred) - even at a conceptual level (what Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB do)
- Some experience writing tests - unit tests, integration tests, or just a habit of validating your code
- Curiosity and a growth mindset - you're comfortable saying "I don't know" and then going to figure it out
- Good communication skills - you can explain what you're working on and ask for help when you need it
Added bonus if you have- Hands-on experience with AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, or S3
- Familiarity with serverless architecture concepts
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform)
- Exposure to containerized workloads (Docker, ECS)
- Familiarity with GraphQL or type-safe API tooling (OpenAPI, tRPC)
- Experience with observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar)
- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal project portfolio
- AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Developer Associate)
