General Statement of Duties
This posting is for (2) Information Security Administrator II positions located in the Department of Technology.
Primary responsibilities t o provide District-level System Administration and Information Security support in the maintaining and monitoring of critical data platforms and execute a variety of security tasks across the enterprise to include reporting, testing, vendor management, technical support, research and security monitoring.
Incumbent will work as a district administrator within the Technology Department and will be working with the Information Security Manager in the management of the District Information Security Program. Responsibilities also include working in conjunction with the Enterprise system administrators to support district-wide technologies and security practices. Must also act as a liaison providing technical support to Network Technicians, TSTs and direct support to schools and centralized administration.
Essential Duties
Assists school-based Technology Support Technicians (TSTs) in supporting Windows and ChromeOS desktops and laptops within the Active Directory domain system;
Provide District Support;
Provide technical security support to TSTs, District, Enterprise and Network Administrators;
Assist Info Security Manager in conducting vulnerability scans;
Assist Info Security Manager in conducting penetration testing;
Conduct audits of systems in the environment to ensure regulatory and policy compliance;
Report on variances in security compliance and participate in remediation, including direct remediation and task delegation;
Conduct regular (daily, weekly, quarterly) reviews of logs, alerts and scan results; generate reports & presentations;
Respond to reports of malware infected computers following established SOPs and assist District TSTs with removal and cleanup;
Investigates alerts and responds to threats;
Provides assistance to management in cases of security investigation and violation of division regulations when required;
Support FOIA, legal and HR based requests requiring email and file based information;
Monitor and support Windows Server both physical and virtual, located in the schools and the Technology Center;
Support of District End Point encryption technologies;
Configuration and Administration of O365 security related features and controls;
Configuration and Administration of Google security related features and controls;
Assist in administration of Firewall ACL and NAT rules;
Assist in administration of Firewall Threat Protection, IDS and IPS controls and signatures;
Assist in quarterly reviews of firewall rule sets and router configurations;
Assist in VPN provisioning;
Assist in the deployment of Security Operating System third party patches;
Assist in the development of platform security hardening templates and policies;
Review, remediate and report on patch management and vulnerability status;
Monitor and support anti-virus end point protection;
Utilize Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Intune reporting in support of baseline compliancy as relates but not limited to virus signatures, patching, version control;
Assist in the administration of APT and IR platform;
Work with internal and external auditors to analyze and remediate issues;
Work with HCPS Attorney's office in support of governance and compliancy as it relates to data privacy.
Ensure proper software licensing and conduct software audits;
Generate documentation on various aspects of corporate security and infrastructure;
Develop system documentation, instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
Evaluate products & provide reports & opinions on their added value to Technology & school division;
Stay abreast of current threats, security trends and methodologies;
Research industry best practices, product specifications, applications, operations requirements & trends;
Learn and communicate policies and participate in security training when appropriate;
Manage Microsoft Active Directory user and computer accounts and security policies;
Monitor and maintain users server file/folder resources located in SharePoint and Google Drive;
Support and troubleshoot Group Policies, DNS and DHCP Services;
Support HCPS primary and secondary school desktop image;
Support District-wide student assessment and testing solutions, as required;
Utilize SCCM and Intine to deploy software packages district-wide, as required;
Utilize Content filtering platform site administration and troubleshooting, as required;
Administration of network printers and copiers; also Mobile Device support, as required;
Support of District Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and related activities;
Support of Cloud computing solutions;
Attends work daily and be engaged in job responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum two years' experience in an information security role supporting medium to large organizations. Security certifications preferred but not required.
Minimum four years' experience in the use and administration of Windows Active Directory, Windows, ChromeOS, or Linux Systems preferred. Knowledge of Windows Server Active Directory. Knowledge of Windows Server.
Strong customer service and communications skills are required. Knowledge and experience with hardware, software, setup and troubleshooting. Must be knowledgeable of network-based protocols (TCP/UDP/ARP/SMB/etc.). Proficiency in the use of common security tools, such as nmap, Wireshark, Cain, etc., preferred. Working knowledge of security vulnerabilities and the ability to determine impact to our environment. Knowledge of security assessment methodology, firewalls, proxies, routers, switches, and other network hardware very important. Capable of combining, sorting, analyzing and reporting data from multiple platforms, systems or applications required. Experience with Bash, programming/scripting, or Microsoft Power Shell and the ability to work in a professional manner closely and positively with others a must.
Propensity to independently troubleshoot and work towards a viable solution. Able to handle high stress situations as they occur; be highly self-motivated and inspired to learn new technologies; comfortable asking for assistance and have the ability to learn from mistakes. Associate degree and/or Bachelor's degree desired but not required.
