Role Overview
Release management creates a structured and automated approach to software releases that enhances reliability and efficiency. The goal is to ensure that new features, enhancements, and bug fixes are delivered smoothly while maintaining system stability. This position is for a Senior Release Engineer to support a Wealth and Asset Management group. By focusing on collaboration, clear processes, and continuous monitoring, the senior release engineer will ensure that software is delivered to users effectively while minimizing service disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish clear and consistent processes for releases to help teams understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure all release processes are well-documented and that team members are trained on these processes to maintain consistency.
- Emphasize the use of automated and reproducible release processes, including tools for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Collaborate with software engineers to define the steps for software releases, including how code is stored, built, tested, and deployed.
- Oversee the entire release process, managing major, minor, and bugfix updates to ensure software evolves without compromising stability.
- Utilize metrics to monitor release velocity and the impact of changes on system performance, using data to inform release strategies.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree, preferably in Computer Science.
Experience: 5-7 years of support or developer experience in financial services, preferably within Asset Management.
Technical Skills:- Experience in Windows and Linux environments.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
- Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and BitBucket.
- Knowledge of public cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, Snowflake).
- Familiarity with Control-M.
- Working knowledge of AI models such as Co-Pilot.
- Experience with software development life cycles and best practices.
- Working knowledge of a programming and scripting language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of software development, configuration management, test integration, and system administration.
- Understanding of the release process from source code to deployment, including best practices.
- Proficiency in automating build processes and using CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to integrate observability tools to track release performance.
- A commitment to iterating and improving release processes based on feedback.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00/hr - $65.00/hr. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, and geographic location.
