Job Title: DB2 Database Administrator
Location: Manhattan, NY (Onsite)
Type: Contract
Work Location Specifications: A selected candidate will participate in on-call rotation and flexible work hours to support project development.
Work schedule: hybrid (the current standard schedule at FISA-OPA is alternating days on-site)
Position Description:
Ensure that all installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases are completed efficiently
• Author and validate procedures for all database processes
• Identify potential issues and deliver modifications / updates for DB2 programs
• Communicate with and deliver to Tech Support all elements to be migrated with specific instructions to be performed during the production migration
• Assist Systems areas with tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills.
• Define and execute databases recovery functions, definition and execution of standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs). • Monitor the health of the key database operations (backup / recovery processes, logging, system response times, etc)
• Open and manage tickets logged with IBM to resolution.
• Work with application development teams to install and migrate software releases (DB2 tasks) and support execution of data fixes (backups, packaging for production, etc)
• Perform DB2 DB troubleshooting of online and batch programs during production, user acceptance
• testing, integrated system testing, performance testing and development phases of the work effort.
• Design and execute technical tests to ensure that vendor and FISA software deliveries address the business and technical problems in a manner consistent with FISA standards for quality and completeness.
• Perform all system administration activities for the IBM InfoSphere Data Replication product. High availability of the product is required as it is a critical part of the City's Financial Management System.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Experience with IBM DB2 V12 or higher.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience working with application teams to build and maintain data propagation solutions - using “IBM InfoSphere Replication Server”
• Experience with CICS transaction server.
• Ability to author REXX scripts.
• Ability to troubleshoot assembler code.
• Installation, configuration, and tuning of new DB2 databases.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs
• Ability to perform all database admin duties (backup/recovery, reorgs, DB trouble shooting).
• Performance tuning at a DB2 system level or individual SQL statements/procedures.
• Knowledge of the Oracle Transparent Gateway product
• Knowledge of DB2 UDB (ie., experience with DB2 connect)
• Experience installing and troubleshooting IBM Tivoli LDAP server product running on AIX.
• Ability to install and manage DB2 on AIX platforms.
• Deep experience with large-scale, enterprise wide, governmental budget and accounting solutions
• Experience with IBM IMS database management or higher (preferred). Including ability to perform a checkpoint restore of an IMS database.
