Director of Engineering - pLTE, Automation & Mission-Critical Applications

Role Summary

The Principal / Director‑Level Engineer – pLTE, Automation & Mission‑Critical Applications at Trilogy NextGen is a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, deploying, and operationalizing private LTE (pLTE) networks and advanced, mission‑critical applications—including Push‑to‑Talk / Push‑to‑Everything (PTT/PTX), robotics, edge computing, and automation platforms—to drive customer automation and operational transformation.

Positioned within Trilogy NextGen IT Services, this role focuses on converting next‑generation connectivity into reliable, production‑grade services that integrate seamlessly with customer IT and operational environments. The role is hands‑on, customer‑facing, and outcome‑driven, with full technical ownership but no direct people management responsibilities.

This individual serves as a technical authority and execution leader for Trilogy NextGen’s most complex and strategic deployments, bridging connectivity, applications, and automation to deliver real customer value.

Key Responsibilities

Private LTE Architecture & Deployment (Hands‑On)

·         Design, deploy, and optimize private LTE (pLTE) network architectures for Trilogy NextGen customers, including RAN, core, device onboarding, and integration with enterprise IT/OT systems.

·         Own technical decisions related to coverage, capacity, latency, QoS, resilience, and security in mission‑critical and industrial environments.

·         Lead coexistence and migration strategies across LMR, Wi‑Fi, public cellular, and pLTE, aligned with Trilogy NextGen service standards.

·         Conduct site assessments, validation testing, and performance optimization to ensure solutions meet production and SLA requirements.

Mission‑Critical Applications & Automation

·         Deploy and integrate mission‑critical and automation‑enabling applications, including:

o   Push‑to‑Talk / Push‑to‑Everything (voice, video, data)

o   Robotics and autonomous systems

o   Edge computing and real‑time or near‑real‑time analytics

o   Industrial and enterprise automation platforms

·         Design end‑to‑end Trilogy NextGen solutions that combine connectivity, rugged devices, applications, and operational workflows.

·         Enable customer automation use cases that reduce manual work, improve response times, and increase situational awareness.

IT Services Integration & Operationalization

·         Ensure all solutions align with Trilogy NextGen IT Services governance, security, and operational frameworks.

·         Define reference architectures, deployment standards, and validation criteria that support repeatable service delivery.

·         Partner with IT operations teams to ensure deployed solutions are supportable, monitorable, and scalable.

·         Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex issues impacting customer or internal production environments.

Customer & Stakeholder Technical Leadership

·         Serve as the technical lead for strategic Trilogy NextGen customer deployments, pilots, and proofs of concept.

·         Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineering, operations, and leadership teams.

·         Translate customer operational challenges into practical, automation‑driven technical designs.

·         Own technical problem‑solving for high‑impact customer engagements and escalations.

Cross‑Functional Influence (No Direct Authority)

·         Partner with Product Management to influence Trilogy NextGen roadmaps based on real‑world deployment insights.
