Position Overview
The State of Texas is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in Informatica PowerCenter, Oracle SQL/PL-SQL, Snowflake, Data Integration, ETL/ELT, and SAP Business Objects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, developing, implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise data integration and data engineering solutions in large-scale environments.
The candidate should be comfortable working with heterogeneous data sources, developing complex ETL workflows, performing source-to-target mapping, resolving production data quality issues, optimizing ETL performance, and collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and support enterprise data integration and data engineering solutions.
- Develop and maintain complex Informatica PowerCenter ETL workflows, including mappings, sessions, workflows, and reusable transformations.
- Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT processes for enterprise data environments.
- Ingest data from multiple heterogeneous source systems, including flat files, APIs, relational databases, mainframe extracts, and other enterprise sources.
- Develop and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including stored procedures, packages, and ETL-related queries.
- Work with Snowflake for data loading, schema design, data integration, and query performance optimization.
- Develop cloud-based ETL/ELT solutions using Informatica Cloud Data Integration (IICS) where applicable.
- Gather and analyze data requirements from business and technical stakeholders.
- Perform source-to-target mapping and document data flows, transformation rules, and technical design specifications.
- Analyze business objectives, operational procedures, and system requirements to identify opportunities for automation and system improvements.
- Evaluate alternative technical solutions and contribute to feasibility and cost/benefit analysis.
- Analyze existing computer systems and data processing procedures to determine opportunities for enhancements and improvements.
- Translate user requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications for data engineering and system development activities.
- Collaborate with organizational units and stakeholders to understand data inputs, outputs, reporting requirements, data structures, and processing needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ETL job failures, data quality issues, data discrepancies, and performance bottlenecks in production environments.
- Monitor ETL pipelines and batch processes to ensure successful and timely data delivery.
- Work with job scheduling and orchestration tools such as Control-M, AutoSys, or Informatica Scheduler.
- Support production releases, change requests, incident resolution, and system enhancements.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SAP Business Objects Universes and related reporting environments.
- Perform ETL and database performance optimization to improve processing efficiency and reliability.
- Maintain technical documentation related to ETL workflows, data mappings, system processes, and data integration solutions.
- Participate in structured SDLC, change management, testing, implementation, and production support activities.
- Collaborate with developers, database administrators, business analysts, QA teams, architects, and business stakeholders.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of overall IT experience – Mandatory.
- Experience as a Data Engineer / Systems Analyst designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data integration solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter.
- Experience developing and maintaining Informatica mappings, sessions, workflows, and reusable transformations.
- Strong experience with Oracle SQL/PL-SQL.
- Experience with Oracle stored procedures, packages, and performance tuning.
- Experience ingesting data from multiple heterogeneous sources into Oracle databases.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data loading, schema design, and query performance optimization.
- Experience with Informatica PowerCenter and/or Informatica Cloud Data Integration (IICS).
- Strong experience gathering data requirements and performing source-to-target mapping.
- Experience documenting data flows, transformation rules, and technical design specifications.
- Strong experience troubleshooting production ETL pipelines, job failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Experience with Control-M, AutoSys, Informatica Scheduler, or similar job scheduling/orchestration tools.
- Experience with SAP Business Objects Universe design and/or maintenance.
- Experience working in a state government or large enterprise IT environment.
- Familiarity with formal SDLC and change management processes.
