Genesis10 is currently seeking a Systems Engineer (OpenShift) for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our client's infrastructure team. This role is responsible for the architecture, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-grade container platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a deep mastery of Linux internals and has extensive experience managing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) in complex, mission-critical environments, playing a pivotal role in optimizing cloud-native infrastructure.
Responsibilities: - Design, deploy, and maintain Red Hat OpenShift clusters across hybrid/cloud environments
- Manage the underlying Linux infrastructure (RHEL/CoreOS) with a focus on kernel tuning, security hardening, and resource optimization
- Provide L3 production support for containerized applications, troubleshooting complex issues related to networking, storage, and cluster performance
- Implement and enforce security protocols, including RBAC, network policies, and image scanning to maintain a robust security posture (following industry standards like the CIS Benchmarks)
- Partner with development and DevOps teams to troubleshoot application deployment challenges and optimize resource utilization within the cluster
Requirements: - 6+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 3 years dedicated to Red Hat OpenShift and Linux system administration
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes orchestration, OpenShift operators, and Helm charts
- Expert-level knowledge of Linux (specifically RHEL/CentOS) internals, including shell scripting (Bash, Python), performance tuning, and troubleshooting (systemd, journald, networking)
- Deep understanding of storage (Persistent Volumes, CSI) and networking (SDN, Ingress Controllers, Service Mesh/Istio) within a containerized environment
- Proficient in automation tools (Ansible/AWX), version control (Git), and container technologies
Desired skills: - Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or RHCE is highly preferred
Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
