Epic Tapestry UM Workflow Configuration Consultant
About the Opportunity
Health Data Movers (HDM), focused on healthcare transformation services, is seeking experienced Epic Tapestry Utilization Management (UM) Workflow Configuration Consultants to support a large healthcare payer transformation initiative.
This role requires a combination of:
- Deep Healthcare Payer Operations expertise
- Epic Tapestry configuration experience
- Utilization Management (UM) and Prior Authorization (PA) domain knowledge
- Workflow assessment and remediation capabilities
- Go-live readiness and transformation experience
The selected consultants will assess workflow readiness, identify gaps, recommend solutions, perform configuration changes, support testing activities, and partner with business stakeholders to ensure successful operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Workflow Assessment & Validation
- Assess and validate Epic Tapestry Utilization Management and Prior Authorization workflows.
- Evaluate workflow outcomes against existing operational processes and business requirements.
- Identify workflow, configuration, data, and process gaps that may impact operations, compliance, user adoption, or implementation success.
- Analyze defects and determine root causes across workflow design, routing logic, automation, and system configuration.
Configuration & Remediation
- Configure, modify, test, and validate Epic Tapestry workflow changes.
- Recommend and implement remediation strategies for identified workflow gaps.
- Ensure consistency of fixes across similar Prior Authorization and Utilization Management workflows.
- Support optimization of workflow efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Testing & Validation
- Develop test scenarios and test cases.
- Execute testing cycles and document outcomes.
- Track defects and remediation activities through resolution.
- Validate expected business outcomes in partnership with operational stakeholders.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with business, operations, and technical teams to validate workflow outcomes and resolve issues.
- Translate operational requirements into effective Epic workflow solutions.
- Participate in readiness, stabilization, and implementation planning activities.
Required Experience
- 7+ years of Healthcare Payer experience.
- Strong background in:
- Utilization Management (UM)
- Prior Authorization (PA)
- Medical Management
- Care Management Operations
- Hands-on Epic Tapestry workflow configuration experience.
- Experience validating healthcare operational workflows within Epic environments.
- Ability to independently identify workflow deficiencies and determine appropriate configuration changes.
- Experience supporting healthcare payer transformations and/or Epic implementations.
- Proven ability to work directly with operational and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Mandatory
- Active Epic Tapestry Certification.
- Relevant Epic badges and advanced Tapestry implementation experience.
- Demonstrated experience configuring and optimizing Tapestry workflows.
Preferred
- Utilization Management go-live support experience.
- Familiarity with:
- Care Management
- Appeals & Grievances
- Medical Necessity Review
- Authorization Operations
- Strong workflow analysis, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills.
